It’s the first time that I have interviewed women for the World Championships Mountain biking, taking place in Andorra. This time I interviewed two women racing in the XCE also known as cross country elimination. A total of 16 women and 32 men qualified for this competition, where they raced in heats of four riders at a time, with the top-2 moving on to the next round, until there were only four left to race for the final.
How hard is it for women to compete in such a sport that let’s face it, targets men. Listen to what Sophie Tyas and Alanna Columb the New Zealanders who are literally having fun in the mud have to say about their sport.
Yes of course my bike has to be in it.
The following video gives the highlights and the finals of the women’s cross country eliminator.
